My Bio
I have worked as an electronic engineer for 20 years. With an interest to achieve a broad experience in all areas of electronic technology I held various engineering positions in RF development, hardware design, manufacturing, automated test development, wireless sensors, in large or small companies or working independently.
Most recently I have been independently involved in developing hardware and custom software for ZigBee enabled wireless sensors. An achieved goal was to design a sensor platform that is highly customizable for many applications.
Prior to this, I have spent 5 years with Tantalus Systems Corp, wearing two hats - test engineer and manufacturing engineer. As a test engineer I worked closely with the design team to set the test requirements and I have developed many complex automated test fixtures for high and low volume RF products, designing both the hardware interface and the LabVIEW software. As a manufacturing engineer I coordinated the ECO process and the DFM and NPI activities.
Before joining Tantalus I worked as an independent contractor to deliver PC based automation solutions. My main achievement during this time was the automation of a parking payment station for Digital Payment Technologies in Vancouver.
Between 1996 and 2002, I have been with Glenayre as a manufacturing project engineer for the first few years, and then as an RF engineer, where I worked within a team to develop a GPS location device.
In 1993 I joined Nautilus international, a small company in Burnaby, as an RF Engineer developing telemetry radios for underground mining applications.
My fist engineering job, after graduation, was with the Radio and TV Division in Romania, as a transmitter engineer at a TV station high up in the mountains.
I have a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in RF Technology, from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania.
I hold a WORKSAFEBC Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate. Being passionate about radio since I was a teenager, I became a amateur radio operator with advanced qualifications, call sign VE7DAQ.
